A Dot Comedian provides a new and unique brand of comedy. Not many comedians are able to sustain a comedy set in a particular accent, which is one of the reasons his performances at ADLIB have been met with rapturous applause. Adding to this his socially relevant observations through a unique perspective, colourfully delivered in an assault of the English language, with one liners such as “Leme tell u Sahmting, Leme tell u Sahmting”, filling the venue with roars of laughter. A bright future beckons for this talented young comic.

Afolabi Dasaolu aka A Dot Comedian has been doing comedy since the age of 13 whilst he was a secondary school student at Archbishop Micheal Ramsey Technology College in Camberwell London. During this time he would put on shows for students in the playground, classrooms, dining room and at bus stops. He would also have cussing matches with fellow students and make up comical stories which many students at the time enjoyed. Afolabi's high confidence and self belief was appreciated by not only his fellow students but also by his teachers and other members of staff.

In 2004 Afolabi performed his first stand up comedy set at the schools talent show with 2 close friends Ademola and Caleb in a short comedy piece called “Lagos Boys". This performance turned out to be a huge success and had the audience in stitches Afolabi received a lot of positive feedback from this which helped build his confidence as an entertainer. Whilst Afolabi was at Archbishop Michael Ramsey Technology College he found it easy to socialise with others and express his opinions when needed to. This again helped him to build his confidence as a comedian and Entertainer.

Afolabi also had a passion for drama which he went on to study further at GCSE level and says that drama was one of the things that motivated him to going to school simply because it was the only lesson where he was able to use his imagination in a creative way to devise plays and sketches which were usually funny but also sometimes very serious. Afolabi's Nigerian background has had a major influence on his style of comedy as he performs in an African accent drawing on some experiences which he has had also experiences that other Africans and Nigerians are able to relate to. However he has the ability to entertain mass audiences of all ages and races. By the time Afolabi had left secondary school He had already made a name for himself. And his popularity increased as his friends often promoted him by word of mouth to others.

Afolabi Dasaolu was a student at Christ King Sixth Form College in Lewisham from September 2005 to July 2008. During this time his talent as a comedian became well known. Whenever crowds gathered, Afolabi would often be found in the middle, entertaining people with his stories and jokes. His confidence grew during this period and his comic timing was honed. He graduated to stand up comedy in college talent shows and won the college's funniest person award in May 2007. He hosted the college fashion shows in 2006 and 2007. These shows were performed over four nights to audiences of up to 250 people and as well as performing comedy routines, he kept the shows moving by providing well thought links between acts. His talent as a performer gained further recognition when he hosted the college ‘blind date' show in 2007 and the college talent show in 2008. Again these shows were performed over a series of dates and to very large audiences. His ability to entertain young people from a range of backgrounds was a great asset and we will miss the humour and warmth he brought to college life.

The college was greatfull for the presence of A.DOT at the BHM Black History Month event organised. The massive turnout to this event was due to the recognition of talent that you have and young people spreading the word of your work. The young people were very enthusiastic and engaged and our organisation will definately be working with you in the future.
